The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare (MHLW) released an overview on the reform of work styles in 2019. Reform of work styles refers to reforms to realize "a society in which workers can choose from a variety of work styles according to their circumstances." With the number of dual-earner households increasing in Japan today, there is a growing demand for flexible work styles that allow people to balance work with housework, childcare, and nursing care. Therefore, it is considered necessary to ease restrictions on working hours and improve compensation for non-full-time work. There is also a need to create an environment that facilitates work for elderly people who are willing to work. In the past few years, due to the influence of Corona, teleworking has become widespread, and some companies have realized a way of working that is not tied to a specific location. We feel that even more companies will adopt flexible work styles in the future, allowing workers to have more vitality.
