August 26, 2019
Sheila Mwanyigha is a journalist and media personality in Nairobi. After starting in radio, she crossed over to TV and SNS. Coming to Japan during the run-up to TICAD 7, she explored the sights (noting the different impressions that Tokyo, Kyoto and Hiroshima each left on her), saw the preparations for Tokyo 2020, and also tried her hand at Japanese cooking.
Regarding TICAD 7, she shares the stories she heard from Kenyans who studied in Japan to convey how important the relationship between Africa and Japan is, and its potential to positively shape the future of the continent.
Looking toward Japan, she also notes the changing roles of women here, and the importance of support and representation for women in the workforce.
