In mid January, youths across January celebrate Seijin no Hi, or Coming of Age Day, when people who have turned twenty years old are recognized as adults. Many localities have their own traditional celebrations to mark the event, such as the archery competitions that are held the Sanjūsangendō Temple in Kyoto.
