Summer is a time of festivals, when stalls offering games and food line the streets. One popular game is called kingyo sukui, in which goldfish are scooped into a bowl using a paddle made of paper. The skill lies in quickly coaxing the fish into the bowl, but not so quickly as to cause the thin paper to break.
