A Hokuriku bullet train prepares to leave Tokyo for northern Japan. Many travel destinations in Japan have experienced a sharp drop in visitors with the COVID-related restrictions on international travel. To assist them, the Japanese government adopted the Go To program to promote domestic tourism by offering rebates on travel expenses to particular locations. At the start of the October, Tokyo was added to the program that will hopefully aid local businesses throughout the country.
