For the past 40 years, Saga Prefecture on the island of Kyushu has hosted the Saga Balloon Fiesta, an international hot air ballooning event. In addition to competitions in which pilots must accurately steer their balloons, many artistically shaped balloons also fly at the event, which draws thousands of spectators. Sadly, the event had to be cancelled this year for health safety, but organizers are planning a return in 2021.
