Japan in Photos – Tsubaki blooming
January 29, 2021
The Tsubaki, also known as camellia japonica, often grows in mountain forests and thickets where it reaches up to 10 meters in height. Covered in bright pink flowers it has long been known for blooming during the cold winter months. Traditional haiku poetry often refers to kantsubaki – ‘cold camellias’ as a way of expressing the natural beauty of the seasons.
