Japan in Photos - Kashiwa Mochi
May 14, 2021
As part of Children’s Day celebrations, children often eat Kashiwa Mochi, sweet rice cakes with anko (red bean) paste fillings wrapped in Kashiwa (oak) leaves. The Japanese see the oak leaves to be symbolic of the prosperity of one’s descendants, as oak trees don’t shed old leaves until new leaves grow.
