The Sumidagawa Fireworks Festival is an annual fireworks festival held on the last Saturday in July, over the Sumidagawa near Asakusa. As one of the biggest fireworks festivals in Japan, the event has been held since 1733 and has attracted viewers across the country. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the festival has had to be canceled, but in typical years huge crowds gather alongside the river and in neighboring parks to watch the enormous and artistic displays.
