Tokyo was the first-ever city to host the Paralympic Summer Games for a second time, and Japan was proud to welcome the over 4,400 athletes who came to compete. Tokyo made widespread efforts to make the city fully barrier-free, and Tokyo Governor Koike has stated her hope that greater accessibility and the removal of physical and social barriers for all will be the lasting legacy of the 2020 Games.
