Because of the global coronavirus pandemic, the Tokyo 2020 Games sadly had to be postponed by a year, after which they were held without any spectators at the venues. The Games, however, proved to be an exciting display of athletic skill and fighting spirit. One notable performance was in women’s basketball, where Japan had their best performance in Olympic history, progressing all the way to the final round and earning their first-ever silver medals.

Team member and power forward Evelyn Mawuli joins us to talk about the inspirations and challenges she grew up with, how she enjoys interacting with fans, and what the Olympic message of diversity means to her.
