Mr. Fulford works as a community consultant in the Nakatsugawa area of Yamagata Prefecture and the Ousemachi area of Koriyama City, Fukushima Prefecture. He supports communities in rural areas facing a declining birthrate and aging population.  In this interview, he shares how traditional value system in rural areas in Japan especially today, where social problems get intertwined, tangled up, and complicated and how cooperation between urban areas and rural areas can revitalize each other.
