Since almost all of Japan is just a short distance from mountains, it should be no surprise that there are plenty of places to enjoy skiing and other winter sports. Shiga Kogen in Nagano Prefecture is among the most popular areas in the country, boasting excellent ski slopes for enthusiasts of all skill levels. Unfortunately, with international travel restrictions in place and many local skiers choosing to remain at home, business at the many resorts has been slow this season.
