The Takayama Matsuri, held every spring and autumn, is considered one of Japan’s three great parade festivals, alongside the July Gion Matsuri in Kyoto and the Chichibu Yomatsuri, or Night Festival, held in December. The parade includes large decorated floats adorned with moving marionettes, lion dances in the streets, and many musicians. The festival will be held on April 14 and 15 this year.
