May 31, 2022
Tsumami Zaiku is a traditional craft that has been passed down for over 200 years. According to personal accounts from back then, women in the court made flower decorations by pinching and combining the surplus cloth of kimono. Beautiful colors and detailed techniques create a gorgeous visual effect. These days, many people make tsumami zaiku as a hobby, and modern colors and designs that match Western clothing are used. Outside Japan, it is sometimes known as "Tsumami Kanzashi".
