Few beverages are as closely linked with Japan as green tea. While the drink is gradually starting to gain in popularity overseas for its purported health benefits, it is still not as familiar as its cousins from elsewhere in Asia. Hailing from Sweden, Oscar Brekell was already a fan of green tea when he arrived in Japan. Once here, he pursued his passion and became a certified tea instructor, then followed up that accomplishment by opening his own tea business, Senchaism. He talks with us today to discuss the training process behind becoming an instructor, and to share his love of the green drink.
