Hotarubukuro are variety of campanula, or bellflowers that can be found growing wild in Japan and are popular as hardy, easy-to-grow garden flowers. The name literally translates to “firefly bags” as the small blossoms, which come in white, purple, and pink, have a round bag shape and come into full bloom around the same time that fireflies can be seen twinkling at night.
