Japan in Photos – Cashless Movement in Japan
August 23, 2022
Japan is currently working to promote cashless payments systems throughout the country. The Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) aims to raise the ratio of cashless payments in Japan to 40% by 2025, up from 32.5% in 2021, and eventually to a world-leading 80%. Many people are increasingly using QR Code payments and e-money in stores, and more vending machines are being fitted with electronic payment capabilities.
