Interview with Prof. Phillip Lipscy: Japan's Energy Policy
June 02, 2023
Japan has been looking for ways to reduce its dependence on imported fossil fuel sources, both as part of its goals for achieving decarbonization by 2050, and as a mean to ensure energy security. This has included a broad range of strategies, including the development of new renewable and zero-emission sources, and by reducing overall consumption and improving efficiency. Professor Phillip Lipscy of the University of Toronto and the University of Tokyo talks with Japan Up Close about the feasibility of Japan's goals and the challenges of achieving true energy self-sufficiency.
