Spring is the nicest season of the year in Japan, with the climate gradually warming from March to May, and sometimes temperatures exceeding 25°C, allowing for T-shirt weather in some places. While Hanami, or cherry blossom viewing parties, are the most popular springtime tradition, there are many more spots to enjoy spring in Japan.

1. Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park, Hokkaido

Kamiyubetsu Tulip Park is a large park with brightly colored Japanese and Dutch tulips in full bloom. The garden covers a total area of 12.5 hectares, with 7 hectares planted with 700,000 tulips of about 200 varieties. The Tulip Fair, held at this park from May 1 to May 31, attracts many visitors every year, and the best time to see the tulips is usually from mid to late May.

2. Ichigo-no-Sato Farm (Strawberry Farm), Tochigi Prefecture

Ichigo-no-Sato Farm is a place where you can enjoy picking strawberries, peaches, cherries, grapes, and other fruits throughout the year. Around 100,000 people visit the farm every year to pick popular domestic strawberries such as Tochiotome and Skyberry. In addition to fruit picking, visitors can also enjoy cake and jam making classes, strawberry seedlings, and other agricultural experiences, as well as Halloween Lantern making.

3. Nanohana Park, Nagano Prefecture

At Nanohana Park, you can see expanses of canola flowers that bloom every year from the end of April to the beginning of May, overlooking the longest river in Japan called Chikuma River, and backed by snowcapped peaks. The "Iiyama Nanohana Festival" is held in this park every year during the Golden Week holidays in May, with various events such as concerts, music festivals, and Mochi-tsuki (rice cake pounding) taking place here.
